12 Free Games to Play When You're Bored (Online, No Download)

Glowbit Games · Updated

Being bored is the worst, and scrolling the same feed for the tenth time doesn’t fix it. A good game does. But “what should I play?” depends on why you’re bored: maybe you want to laugh, maybe you want to switch your brain off, or maybe you want something that’ll swallow a whole rainy afternoon.

So we’ve sorted these 12 games by mood. They’re all made by our studio, Glowbit. Every one is free, plays right in your browser with no download and no sign-up, and works on phones, tablets, laptops and Chromebooks. Most are only about 1 MB, so you can be playing in seconds.

Bored and want to laugh

1. Too Many Doggos!

You’re a dog walker holding every leash at once, and every leash is a real simulated rope. Dogs swap sides and the leashes braid together, wrap around lamp posts, and a pack that spots a squirrel drags you across town on your belly. Every walk ends with a receipt listing tips, broken garden gnomes and stolen sausages.

→ Play Too Many Doggos

2. Totally Not Ducks

Three ducks stand on each other’s shoulders inside a trench coat, wearing a hat and a fake mustache. Waddle into town, steal everything on the shopping list and escape back into the water. To stay undercover you must clap along with the street band, wave at celebrities and pose for group photos. Running is suspicious. Quacking is very suspicious.

→ Play Totally Not Ducks

3. Wobbly Waiter!

A clumsy waiter, one tray and a tower of dishes that grows with every order. Starting, stopping and turning make the tower sway, a cat jumps on top of it and, at the Grand Wedding, live lobsters wriggle on the tray. When a dish hits a guest on the head, they get splatted. Very funny. Not great for business.

→ Play Wobbly Waiter

Bored and want to switch your brain off

4. Boom Bloom!

Tap the night sky and a firework bursts. Every paper lantern its sparks touch bursts too, and the chain spreads across the whole sky in colours. It’s the kind of satisfying you can’t stop doing. When you’ve cleared the shows, Festival mode keeps going until five lanterns float away.

→ Play Boom Bloom

5. Plip Plop!

Skip a stone across a photo-real lake. Flick to throw, tap every time it touches the water, and watch the hops get faster and faster until it skitters off on its own. Zen Lake gives you endless stones and no pressure at all.

→ Play Plip Plop

6. Shine Ahoy!

You’re the lighthouse keeper, and lost boats follow your beam through the dark. Gather a little fleet in the light and lead it gently into the harbour. It’s quiet and calm, and you only need a mouse or one finger.

→ Play Shine Ahoy

Bored and want something to think about

7. Picnic Heist!

A colony of tiny masked ants raids a family picnic. Draw trails to the snacks, send enough ants to lift each one (the birthday cake needs 22), and freeze every time the family looks down. Small snacks hatch new ants, so grow your colony first and go for the burger later.

→ Play Picnic Heist

8. Clickety Clack!

Draw domino runs through a real-looking home, then flick the first one and watch the wave go in slow motion. Every domino is simulated, so you have to plan bends, splits, steps and a robot vacuum that knocks your chain over. Or skip the levels and build anything you like in Free Build, with room for 2,000 dominoes.

→ Play Clickety Clack

Bored and want some action

9. Jelly Gulp!

Up to eight wobbly jellies fight on a giant cake that crumbles under their feet. Eat candy to grow, dash into a smaller jelly to gulp it, then spit it out like a cannonball at someone near the edge. Rounds are short and loud, and every one ends differently.

→ Play Jelly Gulp

10. Achoo! Dragon

A baby dragon with a terrible allergy. Hold to inhale, let go to sneeze a fireball, and get thrown backwards by the recoil. Use it to bowl over villagers and knights, pick silly mutations and beat five bosses.

→ Play Achoo! Dragon

Bored with a whole afternoon to fill

11. Sunny Town: Cozy Life

A whole seaside town to live in. Work jobs, go fishing, grow crops on Grandma’s farm, adopt a pet and make friends, all the way up to level 50. Crops keep growing while the game is closed, so there’s always a reason to come back tomorrow.

→ Play Sunny Town

12. Steel Legends: Tank Assault

A full 3D tank campaign: six theaters, five missions each and 90 stars to collect, with tanks to unlock and upgrade along the way. It’s the biggest game on this list (about 12 MB) and the one most likely to make the afternoon disappear.

→ Play Steel Legends
