Relaxing Games to Play Online: 6 Cozy Free Browser Games for Fall Evenings

Glowbit Games · Updated

Sometimes you don’t want a game that yells at you. You want something that’s warm, calm and a little bit satisfying, with a cup of tea next to the keyboard while it gets dark outside. That’s what “cozy games” are about.

The six games below are made by our studio, Glowbit. All of them are free, run right in your browser with no download and no sign-up, and work on phones and tablets. Not every relaxing game is relaxing in the same way, so for each one we tell you honestly how much pressure there is: none, a little, or a friendly timer.

1. Sunny Town: Cozy Life: the coziest game we make

Download: ~11 MB · Mobile: yes · Ages: 3+

Sunny Town is a 3D life sim in a little seaside town. Explore the town, the beach and Grandma’s farm. Work fun jobs like barista, mail sorter or deliveries, go fishing on the pier, adopt a pet and make friends with the locals. A full in-game day lasts 12 real minutes, with a sunset and glowing street lamps at night.

Crops grow in real time, even while the game is closed. Plant pumpkins or sunflowers before bed and there’s a harvest waiting for you the next day. There’s no way to lose and no wrong way to play.

Cozy tip: go fishing at Grandma’s pond and try to catch the legendary Moon Koi. The pier has its own legend, the Golden Marlin.

2. Clickety Clack!: slow-motion dominoes

Download: ~2 MB · Mobile: yes · Ages: 3+

You draw lines of dominoes across the floor of a real-looking home, flick the first one and watch the wave run through the room in slow motion, with that perfect clickety-clack sound. The 12 levels have goals (ring the bells, collect the coins), but you can take as long as you like to build. Your layout is saved, so you can stop, change one corner and try again.

For pure relaxation, go to Free Build: no targets, room for 2,000 dominoes, paint colours and gadgets like bells, toy cars and party poppers. Build a spiral, a heart or your name and let it fall.

Cozy tip: draw long, wide curves. Watching a single line snake around the whole living room is the most satisfying thing in the game.

3. Maple Chess: chess in an autumn garden

Download: ~9 MB · Mobile: yes · Ages: 3+

A 3D chess board set in an autumn garden. Play against the computer on Easy, Medium or Hard, or against a friend on the same device. On Easy the computer often misses threats, so it’s a gentle way to learn or to unwind after work. Made a mistake? Press Undo (Z) and try another move.

Cozy tip: play a slow game against a friend or family member on one tablet, passing it back and forth.

4. Leaf Me Alone!: autumn leaves, one leaf blower

Download: ~1 MB · Mobile: yes · Ages: 6+

Every leaf in the yard is simulated (up to 7,200 of them), so they roll, flutter and heap up into real piles. Your job is mostly to blow them onto a tarp. Herding a big drift of orange leaves across the lawn and watching the pile grow is one of the most satisfying feelings in any game we make. When you’re done, your worker cannonballs into the pile.

About the pressure: each yard has a timer of about two minutes, and later yards add a grumpy neighbour, wind gusts and a dog who dives into your pile. Yard 1, First Fall, is the calmest: just you, the leaves and a tarp.

5. Crop Circle Crew: drawing in a moonlit field

Download: ~1 MB · Mobile: yes · Ages: 7+

Fly a little flying saucer over a quiet field at night and press the crop flat with your tractor beam, copying a glowing pattern before sunrise. It’s basically drawing by moonlight. At dawn the camera rises into the sky to show off your finished crop circle.

About the pressure: you need to finish before sunrise, and from night 3 a farmer with a flashlight starts to patrol. Nights 1 and 2 have nobody watching, so they’re the most relaxing.

Cozy tip: use the stake (E) to draw perfect rings without any effort. It’s explained in the guide.

6. Kitty Vac!: a cat, a vacuum, a very clean house

Download: ~1 MB · Mobile: yes · Ages: 3+

You’re a tiny robot vacuum with a very serious cat on top. Slurp up crumbs, then toys, then chairs, then sofas, and keep growing until you’re eating cars and whole buildings. Cleaning games are relaxing for a reason: everything you touch disappears, and you can see your progress.

About the pressure: each level has a timer, so it’s the least calm game on this list. But you only need to clean about 40 to 45% to pass, and the owners’ reviews at the end (“Where is the dining table?!”) always make us smile.

What makes a game “cozy”?

There’s no official definition, but most cozy games share a few things: no violence, no way to really fail (or failing doesn’t matter much), soft colours and gentle sounds, and small, satisfying goals like a harvest, a clean room or a perfect line of dominoes. Sunny Town and Clickety Clack’s Free Build tick every box. The others add a light challenge for when you want a bit more to do.
