Gecko Yeet Guide – Swing Timing, Chonks, Burp Boosts and the x10 YEET ZONE
Gecko Yeet is a free one-button 3D swinging game for your browser and phone. You play a chubby gecko with a very long, very sticky tongue. Lick a peg, swing, let go at the right moment and fly to the next one, all the way to the YEET ZONE at the end of the level. This guide explains how the swing works, what the CHONK meter does and how to finish every level with 3 stars and a x10 bonus.
The basics
- Hold Space, the mouse button or your finger on the screen to shoot your tongue at a peg. Keep holding to swing.
- Let go to fly. Your speed and direction at that moment decide where you land.
- Hold again in the air to grab the next peg. A white reticle always shows which peg your tongue will grab. If nothing is in reach, your gecko just does a sad little lick.
- Burp with Shift, X or a right-click (the big BURP button on mobile) for a boost. More on that below.
- Press P to pause.
The most important rule: swinging is always safe. Ropes are short enough that a swinging gecko never touches the goo, the spikes or the saws. All danger happens in the air, after you let go. So if you are not sure, keep holding: your gecko keeps swinging higher and higher until you find a good moment.
When to let go
Let go when your gecko is moving up and forward, a little past the lowest point of the swing. Letting go too early sends you flat into the water. Letting go at the very top sends you straight up and you lose your speed.
- Long flights come from big swings. Hold for one extra swing to build speed before a wide gap.
- Grabbing a peg from far away yanks you toward it. The tongue shortens to a comfy length, so you swing faster after a long grab.
- A quick re-tap right after letting go will not grab the peg you just left. Your tongue always looks forward.
Bugs and the CHONK meter
Flies buzz along the flight paths. Fly close and your gecko eats them automatically.
- 4 bugs = 1 chonk. You can store up to 3 chonks. The CHONK meter in the bottom left shows them, and full ones glow.
- Your gecko visibly gets rounder with every chonk.
- Chonks are shields. Fall into the goo with a chonk and you bounce back up (“BLORP!”) instead of sinking. Touch spikes, a saw or a zappy wire with a chonk and you get knocked away, safe, for a moment. Each save costs one chonk.
- A chonkier gecko is also a bigger gecko, so it is a little easier to bump into things.
Without chonks, touching the goo or a hazard is a splat: you restart at the last checkpoint flag. Flags turn green when you pass them.
Burp boosts
A burp turns one chonk into a big push forward and up. It works in the air and while swinging.
- Use it to save a flight that is coming up short.
- Use it to reach golden flies that are just out of reach.
- With an empty belly you only get a tiny “hic!” and no boost.
Burping and bouncing use the same chonks, so think before you burp over the water.
Obstacles
| Obstacle | What it does | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Bouncy pads (mushrooms, sponges, jelly, trampolines, clouds) | Launch you back up | Safe to fall on. Great for long gaps |
| Balloons | Float you upwards for about 2 seconds, then pop | Let go near the top, aiming at the high peg |
| Taxi birds, pigeons and UFOs | Carry a ring you can grab | Grab the ring when it moves your way |
| Grumpy crabs | Let go of your tongue after about 1 second | Grab and release quickly |
| Spinners | A spinning arm whirls you around | Let go when the arm flings you forward |
| Spikes | Hurt you (or cost a chonk) | Some float, some move up and down |
| Saw blades | Slide along a track | Watch the track, then fly through the gap |
| Chompers | Pop out of the goo to bite | Wait for the bite, then fly over |
| Zappy wires | Electric fences, some blink on and off | Fly over low fences, under high wires |
| Walls and pillars | Bounce you back and block your tongue | Go over or under |
| Speed rings | Massive speed boost | Aim right through the middle |
Every new obstacle gets a short “NEW!” card the first time it appears.
The five worlds
- Jungle Jive: vines, flowers and a very wet river. Learn pads, spikes, balloons, birds, rings and chompers.
- Kitchen Chaos: hanging hooks over a pot of hot soup. Saws, sponges, crabs, spinners and hanging spikes.
- Candy Clouds: lollipops over a chocolate river, with jelly pads and a tight low-ceiling tunnel.
- Rooftop Rush: street lamps at sunset, pigeons and live wires above the traffic.
- Space Disco: glowing orbs and UFOs in low gravity, so every yeet flies further and floatier.
Each world has 8 levels, for 40 in total. The first level of the jungle has a row of mushrooms under the start, so a missed grab is a BOING, not a splash.
Stars, coins and the YEET ZONE
Every level ends with a tall striped wall: the YEET ZONE. Fly into it and your gecko splats flat against it. Where you hit decides your multiplier:
- the small pink band in the middle: x10
- the orange bands next to it: x5
- then x3, x2 and x1 at the top and bottom
Your coins for the level are (bugs + flip bonus + 15 per golden fly + 10 for finishing) × the multiplier. The last two pegs before the wall sit at a good height, so a calm, level release usually lands in the middle.
Flips: spinning all the way around in the air counts as a flip. Each flip is worth 2 coins, with a bonus for 3 or more in one flight. Burps and big swings make you spin more.
Stars: each level has three.
- Finish the level.
- Eat all 3 golden flies. They hover above the normal flight path, so you need a high yeet or a burp to reach them.
- Finish with no splats.
Endless mode
Beat level 1-3 to unlock Endless. Pick any world you have reached and see how far you can fly on a single life (chonks still save you). It gets harder the further you go. You earn 1 coin per 10 meters, plus your bugs and flips.
Skins, hats and daily gifts
Spend coins in the shop on 12 skins (from Sunset to Galaxy Brain and Robo-Gecko) and 12 hats, including a propeller beanie, a crown and a space helmet. Open the gift box every day: the reward grows over a 7-day streak.
Quick tips
- When in doubt, keep holding. Swinging never hurts.
- Let go on the way up, not at the bottom.
- Keep one chonk in reserve before big gaps over the goo.
- Save a burp for the YEET ZONE if your last flight is drifting low.
- Golden flies are always above the arc between two pegs. Look up!
